The science city Dr. Ahmed Zewail dreamed for Egypt — and the story we were trusted to tell. It began with the founder himself: Dr. Zewail sought out Monzology to become the creative partner behind Zewail City’s films, campaigns, out‑of‑home and design. A relationship that started with a hand‑picked call, and carried on — with love and respect — into the tributes that honoured him.

01The origin — a call from Dr. Zewail

Dr. Ahmed Zewail — Egypt’s Nobel laureate in Chemistry and the founder of Zewail City of Science and Technology — didn’t just want an agency. He hand‑picked the team that would tell his science city’s story to a new generation. That call is where Monzology’s work with Zewail City began, and it shaped everything that followed.

He didn’t hire an agency — he chose the people he trusted to carry Egypt’s science story.

02The admission campaign — the booking that broke the feed

The Zewail City University Admission campaign on Facebook — the enrolment push for the 2016–17 intake. Creative, consultancy, copywriting and daily execution, built to bring the country’s brightest students to Egypt’s science city. It landed fast, and it landed hard.

Two creative lines carried it. First, a student’s honest voice — أنا بحب الجامعة بس… “I love the university… I just miss…” — pairing real Zewail City students with the little things they gave up for science.

Then the programmes themselves — real students as ambassadors, each with a touch of science magic for their field: molecules, atoms, materials, water.

In the client’s own words: “We managed to secure our target of admission applicants for academic year 2016–17 within 3 weeks of launching the campaign.” A single social push that filled a university’s intake — and set the tone for every campaign after it.

05The documentary

An original documentary film for Zewail City — a hand‑drawn, chalk‑art journey through Egypt’s scientific legacy that builds, stroke by stroke, into the Zewail City emblem and the man behind it. We wrote it, shot the interviews, and brought it to screen.

06Design & tribute — honouring the founder

When Dr. Zewail passed in 2016, the work turned to remembrance. Among the pieces: a memorial design in the Zewail City voice — a portrait of the founder set against Egypt’s long story of discovery.

07The commemoration

On 26 February 2017, Zewail City marked what would have been Dr. Zewail’s birthday with a memorial evening — a full house of scholars, family and guests, with the documentary on the big screen. Monzology handled the creative and coverage for the day.
