The SS League

Kids don’t want a safety lecture. So for ADES’s Family Safe program, we didn’t warn them — we recruited them. We built the SS League: a superhero universe where every child becomes a hero who spots real danger — online, on the road, at home — and knows exactly what to do next.

Family Safe — ADES’s SS League, a whole family in one universe

01The reframe

Every parent knows the danger list: the internet, the road, the home. And every kid knows the feeling of being told, again, to “be careful.” Warnings slide off. So instead of teaching children what to fear, we gave them someone to be — a hero with a mission. Safety stopped being a rule and became a power.

Don’t warn them. Recruit them.

02Meet the heroes

Two characters anchor the universe — a boy and a girl in the League’s blue‑and‑gold armour, so every child sees a version of themselves in the suit. We designed them from silhouette to expression: confident, friendly, unmistakably kids — never a grown‑up’s idea of “cool.”

03The emblem

The League needed a badge kids would want on their chest. The SS shield — bright cyan, gold lettering, a guardian’s crest — became the mark that ties film, event and print together. It carries the program’s promise in four words.

04Three dangers, three films

The heart of the program is three animated films — one for each danger zone a child meets every day. Same heroes, same world, each a complete story with a real runtime, scripted, storyboarded and animated end to end.

Three films — “Saif vs. the dangers of the Internet, the Road & the Home”

05See the danger. Know the move.

Every film runs on one repeatable idea: the hero’s visor scans a scene, names the hazard, and prescribes the right response. It turns a vague “be careful” into a clear, memorable action a child can actually do — the difference between fear and a plan.

06From sketch to screen

None of it starts polished. Every beat was drawn rough first — timing, staging and emotion tested as pencil animatics before a single frame was coloured. It’s the unglamorous half of the craft that makes the finished films feel effortless.

07A live recruitment day

The universe didn’t stop at the screen. ADES ran it live: children arrive, get welcomed at the door and onboarded as new recruits, walk a guided “tour” that drops them inside the story, and take on hands‑on missions — their photo up on the main screen, standing tall as the newest member of the League.

08Into their hands

Finally, the League goes home. Printed activity pieces — puzzles built from the heroes and the whole family — keep the characters (and the lessons) in the house long after the film ends. Safety that a child plays with, not a leaflet they lose.

In the client’s words

Turning safety awareness into a story children remember

Working in the drilling industry, safety is not simply a policy or a set of procedures — it is a way of life. Every day, we continuously remind our people, particularly our engineers and field employees, of the importance of looking after themselves and making safe decisions.

But with this initiative, we wanted to take safety awareness one step further. We asked ourselves: what if we could bring the message home — not only to our employees, but to their children? That was the idea behind our collaboration with Monzology.

We wanted to create a safety experience that would speak to children in a language they could understand: through imagination, storytelling, characters, heroes, and adventure. Monzology embraced the idea from the very beginning and turned what could have been a complicated safety message into an engaging and memorable cartoon experience.

Their team supported us throughout the entire journey — from developing the storytelling concept and creating the characters and heroes, to producing a high-quality animated film that captured the attention of the children and delivered the safety message in a simple, meaningful way. They also helped us create supporting materials and a handbook that allowed the children to continue learning beyond the video itself.

What impressed us most was not only the quality of the final product, but the passion, flexibility, creativity, and genuine commitment that the Monzology team brought to the project. They listened carefully to our objectives, understood the importance of the safety culture behind the initiative, and translated our vision into something much more powerful than we initially imagined.

And then came the real measure of success — the children themselves. The feedback we received from them was incredibly positive and, remarkably, some of that feedback and those memories continued to surface even two years after the initiative. That was a powerful reminder that when safety is communicated in the right way, it doesn’t have to feel like a lesson. It can become a story, an experience, and a memory that stays with you.

For us, this collaboration was more than producing a cartoon. It was about planting the seeds of a safety mindset in the next generation. We are truly grateful to the entire Monzology team for their partnership, creativity, and support. They helped us turn an important safety message into something children could connect with, enjoy, and remember.

Thank you, Monzology, for helping us make safety a story worth remembering.
